Hemery Row Plaque(No 41 La Motte Street)

These granite houses, originally 7 in number, were built by Jacques (James) Hemery. Six of them were ceded to six of his seven nieces, daughters of Clement Hemery, who, during his lifetime, paid him an annual rent of £40. The last house was given to his nephew. The plaque reads:- "HEMERY ROW, BUILT AS SEVEN HOUSES ABOUT 1800 BY JACQUES HEMERY"
