Corn Market Plaque(W. side of Royal Square)

The ground floor of this building was the Corn Market, which, in 1669, Suzanne Dumaresq, Dame de la Haule, had been given permission to build at her own expense. Her own accommodation was on the first floor. The plaque reads:- "IN THIS BUILDING IS THE CORN MARKET, CIRCA 1668."
